Blackcaps beat WI by 5 wickets to clinch the ODI series 2-1

West Indies have suffered yet another series loss at home as New Zealand beat them 2-1 in the ODI series. West Indies had a great start in the ODIs after being thrashed in the T2OI series but couldn't continue their consistency and lost the remaining two matches of the 3-match ODI series.

New Zealand elected to bowl first after winning the toss and and looked clueless as they couldn't find early wickets. West Indies started brilliantly as both the openers scored half-centuries to put up a 173-run stand for the opening wicket.

Shai Hope was dismissed for 51 runs whereas Kyle Mayers went on to score 2nd century of his ODI career before getting dismissed. The hosts then kept losing wickets at regular intervals in between.

Skipper Nicholas Pooran was looking dangerous at the other end and took the team total past the 259-run mark. He missed out on a remarkable century as he was dismissed for 91 runs by Trent Boult.

West Indies however managed to put up a mammoth total of 301/8 in their 50 overs. Boult was the most successful bowler for the visitors who took 3 wickets along with Mitchell Santner getting 2 wickets. Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, and James Neesham found a single scalp each.

Chasing the target, New Zealand lost the opener, Finn Allen, very early in the inning with just 20 runs on the scoreboard. Martin Guptill and Devon Conway then batted brilliantly together and added 82 runs for the second wicket.

Both went on to score half centuries before getting dismissed in 20th and 25th over respectively. A 120-run partnership between skipper Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell turned out to be the crucial one for the visitors in the run chase.

Both batters reached their half centuries and took the team total near to the 240-run mark before getting dismissed. An unbeaten stand of 48 runs for the 6th wicket between Michael Bracewell and James Neesham ensured a comfortable victory for the visitors in the end.

New Zealand clinched a 5-wicket victory with 2.5 overs to spare and won the ODI series 2-1. Jason Holder and Yannic Cariah got two wickets each with Alzarri Joseph getting a single wicket for the hosts.

Tom Latham for his brilliant knock of 69 runs off 75 balls was adjudged as player of the match whereas Mitchell Santner for his all-around performance throughout the series was adjudged as player of the series.

West Indies managed a single victory in both T2OI and ODI series but failed to stop their losing run due to a lack of consistency.
