Disney Star retains ICC media rights till 2027

Disney Star has retained the TV and Digital media rights of the International Cricket Council (ICC) till 2027 in India. The media rights include both men's and women's ICC events. The winning amount was not disclosed by the broadcaster and the ICC.

Disney Star retains ICC media rights till 2027

Disney Star has retained the TV and Digital media rights of the International Cricket Council (ICC) till 2027 in India. The media rights include both men's and women's ICC events. The winning amount was not disclosed by the broadcaster and the ICC.

Disney Star already held the ICC media rights till 2023 and now they will broadcast two men's T20 World Cup 2024 and 2026, 2025 Champions Trophy and 2027 ODI World Cup and if we talk about women's cricket Disney Star will broadcast the inaugural Women's Champions Trophy, two T20 World Cups and ODI World cup which will be hosted by India in 2025.

Disney Star now holds the media rights of India's home matches (2024), ICC events (2027), IPL (2027), Cricket Australia media rights (2024-31), Cricket South Africa media rights (end of 2023-24 season). Disney Star has held the ICC media rights since 2007. 

Four Indian broadcasters Disney Star, Viacom 18, Sony Sports and Zee Network participated in the bidding process. "Disney Star won following a single round sealed bid process which has yielded a significant uplift to the rights fee from the previous cycle continuing the impressive growth and reach of cricket" - an ICC release said.

"The extension of the ICC rights adds to our strong portfolio of cricket properties, which also include the television rights for IPL (2023-27), television and digital rights to Cricket Australia (2024-31), BCCI broadcast rights through the 2024 and cricket South Africa (end of 2023-23 season), and bolsters our status as the go-to destination for the best sporting events in the country" - K Madhavan, country manager and president, Disney Star.
