As it happened:-

West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl first at Kensington Oval, Barbados. New Zealand lost their first wicket early as Martin Guptill was dismissed by Jason Holder on 3 runs. New Zealand struggled in the powerplay as they lost Devon Conway and Skipper Tom Latham on just 31 runs.

Finn Allen batted well and scored his third ODI half-century. Daryl Mitchell and Finn Allen 84 run partnership revived New Zealand innings. Daryl Mitchell was dismissed by Kevin Sinclair on 41 runs. Michael Bracewell and Glenn Phillips didn't contribute much to New Zealand innings as both went back quickly. Finn Allen fell four runs short of his Century as he was dismissed by Jason Holder on 96. Mitchell Santner and Trent Boult's cameos, in the end, helped New Zealand to post 212 on the scoreboard.

West Indies batters struggled against Trent Boult and Tim Southee as they were 27 for 6 in 10 overs. They were 61 for 7 when rain interrupted the match. Play resumed after one hour and West Indies needed to chase 212 in 41 overs based on the DLS method. Akeal Hosein was dismissed in the second over post restart of the match.

Yannic Cariah scored 52 (84) and Alzarri Joseph scored 49(31). Yannic and Alzarri put up a big partnership of 85 runs giving West Indies fans a little bit of hope. But West Indies got all out on 161 and New Zealand won the match by 50 runs.

"The bowlers did the job for us. We were in deep trouble when we lost six wickets in the power play. Alzarri and Cariah had a great partnership. We'll have to work hard, New Zealand are not going to give it away easily". - Nicholas Pooran, West Indies skipper.

"It was a fantastic performance, Finn played a fantastic knock. When when you have 212 on the scoreboard, the beliefs their on the side. With two world-class bowlers taking six wickets that was nice. It was a great partnership between Mitchell and Allen. The lost our way after the rain break. We need to work on that we need to talk about the things we need to improve". - Tom Latham, New Zealand skipper.
