India claims T20I series 4-1 as they beat West Indies by 88 runs in the last T20I

India clinched yet another T2OI series victory as they beat West Indies by 88 runs in the 5th and last T2OI. Both teams made four changes for the last match of the series. India appointed Hardik Pandya as the stand-in captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma.

India elected to bat first after winning the toss and started well before they lost Ishan Kishan for 11 runs in the 5th over. Shreyas Iyer was then joined by Deepak Hooda and put up a 76-run stand for the second wicket before the latter was dismissed for 38 runs in 25 balls.

Shreyas Iyer went on to score the 7th half-century of his T2OI career before he was undone on 64 runs by Jason Holder in the next over. Runs were coming at a decent pace for the men in blue as they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.

Skipper Hardik Pandya played a quick-fiery knock of 28 runs in just 16 balls as India posted a total of 188/7 in their 20 overs. Odean Smith was the most successful bowler for the hosts as he gave away 33 runs in his quota of four overs and took 3 wickets with Holder, Drakes, and Hayden Walsh getting a single wicket each.

Chasing the target, West Indies had a horrible start to their inning as they lost experimental opener Holder in just the third ball of the first over. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals with Shimron Hetmyer playing his shots at the other end.

He was fighting like a lone warrior and went on to score 4th half-century of his T2OI career before he was dismissed for 56 runs. Four batters couldn't open their account whereas seven batters failed to reach double figures for men in maroon.

India bowled the hosts out for just 100 runs in 15.4 overs and registered a huge 88-run victory. Ravi Bishnoi sparkled his brilliance as he took 4 wickets for just 16 runs in his 2.4 overs whereas Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav found three scalps each.

India comfortably won the T2OI series 4-1 against the two-time World T2O champions. Axar Patel for his brilliant bowling performance was adjudged as player of the match and Arshdeep Singh for his consistency throughout the series was adjudged as player of the series.

This was India's third consecutive overseas T2OI series victory this year as they looked confident and prepared ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup in UAE.
