Jamaica Tallawahs defeated Barbados Royals by 8 wickets, clinch CPL title for the third time

Jamaica Tallawahs beat Barbados Royals by 8 wickets to win the Caribbean Premier League 2022 title. This was their third CPL title. They previously won CPL in 2013 and 2016.

As it happened:-

Barbados Royals won the toss and opted to bat first against Jamaica Tallawahs at Providence Stadium in Guyana. Jamaica Tallawahs made one change, Migael Pretorius came in for Mohammad Amir. Barbados Royals also made two changes Bosch came in place of Tector and Joshua Bishop came in place of Hayden Walsh Jr.

Rahkeem Cornwall and Kyle Mayers started well for Barbados Royals. Both openers smashed Tallawahs bowlers all around the park. Royals reached the 50-run mark in just five overs. Fabian Allen got the wicket of Cornwall in the last ball of the powerplay. Royals were 63-1 at the end of the power play.

Allen struck again as he dismissed Kyle Mayers on 29(19). Azam Khan and Jason Holder stitched 48 runs partnership but it didn't last much longer as Imad Wasim dismissed Holder on 17(19). 

Azam smashed his half-century but Allen got his wicket soon after that on 51(40). Gordon got two wickets in the last over as Barbados Royals only managed to score 161 in 20 overs.

Chasing the target, Tallawahs lost the wicket of  Kennar Lewis on 0(1) in the first over. Shamarh Brooks and Brandon King got the Tallawahs' chase back on track as they managed to score 41 runs in the powerplay with the loss of one wicket.

King and Brooks continued to attack the Royals bowlers. Tallawahs were cruising to the victory as they scored 86/1 in 10 overs. Holder got the wicket of Brooks on 47(33). King reached his 36-balls half-century. King and Powell scored 17 and 20 runs in the 14th and 16th over. With just six needed in 26 balls, King finished the match in style and Jamaica Tallawahs won the CPL 2022 for the third time
