Australia have provided a great boost to their confidence going forward in the tournament as they beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in their 2nd match. Australia have provided a great boost to their confidence going forward in the tournament as they beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in their 2nd match. The hosts had to find a rhythm for going forward after losing their opening game to New Zealand.

Sri Lanka on the other hand struggled a lot and lacked effective performances from the players. Australia elected to bowl first after winning the toss and found early success in the 2nd over as Kusal Mendis departed for 5 runs.

Pathum Nissanka and Dhananjaya de Silva tried their best to recover the innings but couldn't revive the slow run rate. Nissanka was dismissed for 40 runs which he scored in 45 balls.

De Silva managed to score just 26 runs in 23 balls. Sri Lanka somehow managed to put up a fighting total as they scored 157/6 in their 20 overs.

Chasing the target, the hosts had a bad start as they lost the opener, David Warner, for 11 runs very early in the innings. Mitchell Marsh scored 17 runs in as many balls followed by Glenn Maxwell's dismissal who scored 23 runs in 12 balls with the help of 2 fours and 2 sixes.

The all-rounder Marcus Stoinis turned out to be the hero for Australia as he scored an unbeaten 59 runs off just 18 balls and took his team to a comfortable victory. He smashed 4 fours and 6 sixes in his fiery knock.

Skipper Aaron Finch provided great support as he scored unbeaten 31 runs in 42 balls. The Aussies took just 16.3 overs to clinch an easy victory against the Asian champions. Marcus Stoinis for his brilliant batting performance was adjudged as player of the match.
