Former Indian skipper and legendary batter Mithali Raj has hinted to come out of retirement to play the inaugural edition of Women's IPL which is assumed to be launched next year. Mithali announced her retirement in June after having a splendid long international career of 23 years. She scored 7805 runs in 232 ODI matches at an average of 50.7, she also played 89 T20Is and 12 tests in which she scored 2364 T20I runs and 699 Test runs. Mithali also led India in two ODI World Cups.
Mithali is yet to take a decision on her participation in the Women's IPL which could be a six-team tournament.
"I’ve not yet decided. There are a few more months to go before the women’s IPL happens. It would be lovely to be part of the first edition of the women’s IPL." - Mithali said on the first episode of ICC’s new podcast, 100% Cricket.
Mithali also talked about her post-retirement life and said things still haven't slowed down in her life despite going away from cricket.
“I thought it (retirement) would slow down my lifestyle, in the sense that I don’t have to plan my day, week or next series. After I announced my retirement, I was down with Covid, and when I recovered from that I got involved in the promotional events of the movie. So far it is as hectic as it has been, there’s no change to my lifestyle yet. Maybe when all these things die down, I’d probably feel the difference of what it is post-retirement." - Mithali added.
