The two-time T20 World Cup winners West Indies had a horrible campaign at the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Their ODI and T2OI captain Nicholas Pooran has decided to step down from the captaincy role. He has confessed his disappointment regarding their poor run at the mega event and preparations for upcoming challenges.

The star batter Rovman Powell is likely to replace Pooran as the new skipper of West Indies' white ball team.

West Indies failed to qualify for the super 12 stage in the T2O World Cup 2022 which was an unexpected setback for them. Nicholas Pooran stated after leaving the white ball captaincy :

"There is no doubt I remain fully committed to West Indies cricket and I look forward to providing my services as a senior player in a supportive role. I desperately want us to be successful and the most value I can give to the team is through fully focusing on the role of consistently scoring runs at crucial times "

Following Kieron Pollard's retirement, the star wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran was appointed as the skipper of the white ball side. He although has decided to give up on the role only after 6 months of leading the team.

West Indies won 4 out of 17 ODIs and 8 out of 23 T2OIs they played under the leadership of Nicholas Pooran. The men in maroon were knocked out in the 1st round of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
